Beach-Themed Decor

Tips for Designing a Beach-Themed Home

There’s nothing more relaxing than a day at the beach. That’s why so many people are turning to beach-themed decorating for their at-home coastal getaway.

Creating a beach theme in your home doesn’t mean you have to be literal with shells and sand decorating every inch of your space.

Instead, think coastal colors in blue and white hues with a light and airy feel that fills the entire space. That’s what we call coastal perfection!

Whether the beach is at your door or you’re nestled in the bustling city with sun and sand on your mind, we’re showing you four ways of designing a beach-themed home.

Bright White Rooms

Coastal homes are notorious for their light and airy ambiance. Plenty of light and liberal use of stark white paint is what will take a regular home to coastal paradise. Wood paneled walls should be painted out white to make the room appear larger, crisper, and cleaner.

The Perfect Accent Colors

Turquoise is another favorite shade for beach-themed decorating and adds a playful pop of color against your beachy white walls. Stick to complementary colors and patterns that flatter your beach theme. Other great colors to accomplish your beach theme include coral, sandy browns, pale yellows, and nautical navy blue stripes.

Tile and Countertop Choices

Light and airy floor tiles are an important part of any beach inspired space. You’ll want to select a sand-colored tile, like Mocha Creme limestone, that has a matte and natural-looking finish. If marble is more your style, opt for White Wood, which encompasses the same matte finish with the natural appearance of wood. To add extra warmth, select a rug in your preferred accent color that matches other decor pieces.

For countertops and backsplashes, stick to complementary designs that make a statement such as Marmol’s appropriately named Aquamarine onyx or Tortuga Green granite.

The Perfect Accessories

One of the easiest ways to incorporate a beach vibe into your favorite space is with your decor pieces.
Hooks – Beach-themed hooks are a practical and minimalist way to add a nautical and rustic charm to your space. Options include anything from anchor hooks for hanging keys and coats in the entryway to starfish hooks for towels in the bathroom.
Set Sail – Ships are also a great choice in decor. Done tastefully, a stray ship figurine and hanging life preserver will add a fantastic splash of nautical decor to your faux beach house.
Shells – These beach finds are a favorite accessory when decorating your home in a beach theme. Create a beach-themed vignette of large shells and go for some color by filling jars with sea glass.
Sand – One brilliant way to use sand in your decorating is to take a handful from every beach vacation you’ve had and fill a hurricane jar with different layers of sand. This ultimate souvenir tells a great story and adds coastal character to your space.

Coastal style doesn’t have to exist in beach houses alone. There are plenty of tips and tricks to make your house stand out as a beach-themed paradise to enjoy every day. Have some decor ideas of your own? Share with us @marmolexportusa.
